Day 8 - October 7, 2008

Mom had a good night last night. She's sedated following surgery, so she's been quite relaxed. She's "awake", but not what I'd call alert. They're starting to work on removing the ventilator, so hopefully it comes out today or tomorrow.

The plastic surgeons have spoken with us now. The plan is if she has surgery on the right tibia tomorrow (Wednesday) that they'll do the plastic surgery on Thursday. If she isn't able to have the right tibia repaired tomorrow, it will be next week before they complete the plastic surgery. The plastic surgeon did say she feels as though they can repair the skin on the foot, so we'll see how all of that progresses.

Thank you for your continued prayers - this is only the beginning of a very long journey for Mom (and all of us, really). The outpouring of concern has been overwhelming - I can't tell you how much it means to all of our family to see how much everyone else thinks of Mom. I mean, she's my Mom, I think she's the best thing since sliced bread, so it is pretty amazing to see that everyone else does, too. Thanks - alot.

I'll update more later as we have more info about surgery and if she is able to get rid of the ventilator.

My name is Mandy Wright. Ron and Reta Loyd are my parents. My sister, brother and I grew up listening to stories about Mom, Dad and Patty. Please know that we, are family and friends, are praying and will continue to lift Patty and the boys in prayer. If there is anything we can do, please let up know.

We check the blog several times each day, and we are continuing to pray without ceasing. We were baking 47 pumpkin rolls for the senior class yesterday, and we missed Patty so much that it was all we could do to keep from crying. We were glad to read that the plastic surgeon had good news about the skin on Patty's foot, and we will all breath easier when the tubes are removed. We can't wait to hear from "Toxalot!" (or is it Toxalot's Mother)? We will continue to lift you all up in our prayers!

As a citizen of the Mtn. Park & Snyder communities, I want to commend you on sharing your time and feelings with the updates. It meant so much when I accidentally found the "Blog". I have been praying and it means much more to uplift those in prayers when you know conditions and can specifically talk with God in prayer. Thank you.

Respectfully,

I'm so happy to hear progress again. Glad I don't wear makeup much, it would just be washed away by the tears. What you are doing Alana is amazing...Your mom will be so proud of you, Scotty, your dad, Emmanda and the world of people that have become a part of your moms life. Thanks for letting us be a part of it. Our prayers continue.
